Do you love HORSES? My avocation (yours might be golf, sports, video games, collecting coins, etc) is HORSES.
Perhaps, like me you have been experiencing loss of family and friends as you get older… The message I heard: “Get out there! Life is too short! Do what you love!” And while I dearly LOVE Real Estate, I was missing something: HORSES!!!
So…A couple years ago, I decided to “get back in the saddle” and – in my spare time – restart my training to become a competitive horse rider. Then…I fell OFF! I broke my back (sacrum) in 2 places. The pain for 2 years was terrific. It was all I could do to focus on the “day to day” and my Real Estate business. My neurologist said: “That’s it! No more horses!”
A lesson I learned a long time ago: “Challenges are not STOP signs – they’re QUALIFIERS!” So, I looked for the shift in my path that would allow me to be with horses as my avocation.
It came to me in the form of 2 programs through Touched By A Horse. The first – Equine Facilitation – teaching collaborative/goal setting skills, communication, leadership, conflict resolution, etc – to groups of people in the work force, families, non-profits, military, etc. I hold that license now.
The second program – Equine Gestalt Coaching Method – incorporates Gestalt (trauma-informed) principles to heal Humans, while partnering with Horses…this really appealed to me, as I have a 25+ year background in Physical Therapy. This program is 2 years in length and very intense. I will complete this in December 2023.
This is a way I can pull in my healer’s heart, love of coaching, people and horses – and give BACK. So whether it’s Horses or Houses, I got you!
